A Friendly Reminder

I feel slightly nauseous right now which means that it must be House Hunters Day! I'm alternating between being excited, and wondering "WTF was I thinking???"

Yes, that's right. I'll be all across America in HD tonight at 10:30 pm EST on HGTV, so check it out... And if it goes terribly, please just lie to me.

Oh God.

  1. This is crazy. My wife is knitting, and I'm working from home in Madison. We're planning on moving to Prague/Eastern Europe at the end of the summer, and all of a sudden, your episode of HH comes on... AND YOU HAVE A BLOG. Do you mind if I email you some questions about living/working in Europe?

    All the Best,
    JL

    1. Hi Joe, and thanks for looking me up/writing! That is pretty weird how that happened, but hey, why not? Of course you can feel free to shoot me an email, you can reach me at heathergoesdeutsch@gmail.com

      Thanks again!

  2. You're going to be great! The worst part is waiting to see it while everyone back home tells you what they thought of the episode. I can't wait to watch...

    1. Thanks for the reassurance, I appreciate that from a fellow HHI "contributor."

Buuuuuut there was NO WAY IN HELL I was going to let everyone else see it before me. What can I say, not much has changed from being the kid who went Christmas present-hunting every year. I have NO patience. Haha. In the end, I figured that getting up 1.5 hours earlier was the better choice, and I was right. With the phone buzzing every 30 seconds, I wouldn't have slept through all that anyway!

  3. Soooooooo, any feedback?!? I'm so eager to find out what you thought..or rather, what your friends and family thought!

    1. So far it's all been good. I just saw a clean version (you know, not via Skype), and I'm okay with the way it came out. Courtney was freaking out a bit last night over various things, but overall I'm alright with it! I'm still waiting to hear from my parents... I'm guessing my mom won't write to me until after all her co-workers tell her if I made the "right" decision. Haha.

    1. Oh my gosh, of course I remember you Noah! I think the last time I saw you at that party, Hannah was just a baby. I hope that maybe we'll all meet in Wisconsin again one of these days, it's been too long. That's so cool that you all watched, and thanks for writing... tell your mom, dad, and sister that I said hi! :)

  5. Honestly, dear sister, I was expecting more beers. And was that a Coke at the end? That was probably the weirdest part. You and Coke.

    1. C'mon, there were beers at the bratwurst restaurant. That's one. See my response below for further comments re: beer.

  7. Oh, and though we've never met, I noticed the Coke at the end, too...I figured the girl in a dirndl was going to bring a round of beers! ;)

    1. Thanks so much Jan! I had a few people question why I didn't take the last place, and I told them that the furniture was even scarier in person. And a pull-out couch everyday? Not a chance. Haha.

As for the Coke... there was a reason. We shot that scene right after lunch (when I did have a beer), and we were running late to go to the next place (where I was going to have to drink another beer), so there was no way I was going to be able to drink a beer that fast. At least not without being half sloshed for the next scene. Plus the other two weren't having beer either, and I was trying not to look like a total alcoholic. But you're right, a girl in a dirndl ought to be carrying a round of Maß. Anything else just looks weird.

    2. Excuses, excuses. You're a Wisconsinite, dammit!

    3. Yes, and I would have been a drunk Wisconsinite on national television. Which of course has never happened before.

  8. Hi Heather!

I have.. erm.. "acquired" a copy of your episode as a computer playable file, about 800 Mb in size. I can make it available for a regular through-a-web-browser download if you like. Let me know.

I haven't watched it yet, but I'm really looking forward to it when I have the time. :)

    1. Hey Steven!

Thanks for the offer... I actually "acquired" a copy myself yesterday... you tech-minded guys are good people to know. :) My parents even managed to figure out how to watch it after the downloaded it. I was impressed. Not sure why the new WMP can't deal with .mkv files without an add-on, but who am I to question the Windows Gods?

I recommend watching it with beer... that's what I did at 4am. Haha. Let me know what you think!

    2. It may be the weekend before I get to it... by the way, Angie messaged me directly and I gave her a link to the file. If anyone else asks you for it, feel free to send 'em my way, I guess. :)

    3. Will do, and thanks! Not sure who Angie is, but hope she enjoys it. :)

Well, Angie is the one who works for the court in Nuremberg and who you had dinner with at the Tibet, O'Sha, and the Italian place. Remember me now? How about we meet up in the near future so you won't forget about me? ;)
Thanks to Steven, I was able to download the episode and I'm totally excited to watch it!! :)

    6. Haha... so sorry Angie! Steven helped me figure it out... I guess I just assumed it was another expat blogger person, and couldn't think of one named Angie! Of course we should get together again sometime soon... I think you have another few Cali trips I'd like to hear about. And hope you enjoy the show!

  9. I like VLC media player on any of the big three operating systems for watching MKV files...just in case it helps. http://www.videolan.org is where you can get the player software for free.

    1. Thanks for the tip Cliff... luckily my personal IT guy helped me sort out the problem. Otherwise I would've had a major issue when none of my "The Office" episodes worked on the new computer. :)
